Mascot Design Contest

Wizardry School Theme

Huge congratulations to our 3 mascot winners!

Your designs are magical, mystical, and above all, reflective of the beautiful City of Lethbridge. The judging team had a wonderful yet difficult time choosing the winners of this competition. Each design had very unique and creative elements.

In 1st place is Lauren Kurmey! She created Lee Hawthorn, a wizard who borrows outfit inspiration from Nordic, Chinese, Vietnamese and Middle Eastern Cultures. Lauren says, “All of Lee’s unique clothing pieces and styles are distinct, and his down-to-earth colour palette is calm but fun and youthful. Everything blends together to create a cohesive, compelling appearance, while also embracing the ideas and feelings behind the Bunka Hashi Festival.” Congratulations Lauren!

In 2nd place is Haylee McGougan for her character Tani, a cute little deer, representing the large deer population we have living within our beautiful city! Haylee says, “I really wanted to go with something that would really say ‘Lethbridge’, and I thought that using a deer would really bring that theme. I went with a kind of soft, warm, and natural colour pallet, to kind of bring the sky and Lethbridge’s super pretty sunsets, but tried to be careful not to create a character with too bright of a colour pallet, and went with mostly soft pink tones. Congratulations Haylee!

In 3rd place is Xenefia for their character, Aria Manara whose world was “turned upside down the day she received her invitation to Bunkahashi Academy of Magic Arts and Artifice. She met her fairy companion there, who guides her on the craft of magic tools, such as her trusty magitech wand.” Congratulations Xenefia!
